Perfume Columnist
Mishka Hoosen is a writer, creative director, and neophyte perfumer living and working in Cape Town, South Africa. His first novel, Call it a difficult night, was published by Deep South Books in 2015, and he is currently working on a book about perfume and the anthropocene thanks to a residency from IFAS. He studied at Interlochen Arts Academy in the US, and Rhodes University in South Africa, where he studied Creative Writing and Anthropology. He has managed to channel his reprobate tendencies into a range of obsessions including Ancient Greek, folklore, anthropology, and perfume. Mishka can usually be found stalking the beachfronts for ambergris or mermaids who might make a deal in exchange for ambergris.
Sketch of Mishka is by Margaret Creedon O'Shea.
