Created from what was once called an “accidental, aesthetic coven” that slowly formed from 2011 to 2015, The Attic on Eighth officially launched in April 2017. We are an online publication dedicated to highlighting voices across areas and interests that we are passionate about. Originally inspired by the literary trope of “the madwoman in the attic,” we wished to reappropriate a place historically used to confine women. The Attic on Eighth’s members span the globe and include grad students, young professionals, and aspiring writers in their midst. The Attic knows that no interest is more important than another, and topics address everything from literature, wellness, fashion, academia, mental health, to pop culture, identity, and politics. Our goal is to create inclusive, original content and host a conversational space where all feel welcome and inspired.
